Umani Ronchi, Wine Producers in Marche and Abruzzo.
The Umani Ronchi story is one of ancient vines, land and people. Seasons waxing and waning. Harvests changing. Wines coming into being. The story began more than half a century ago at Cupramontana, in the heart of Verdicchio Classico country, and has spread further. Today Umani Ronchi is the wine estate owned by the Bianchi-Bernetti family, who since 1959 have been making superb-quality craft wines, coaxing the best out of the Verdicchio and Montepulciano that find their finest expression in Marche and Abruzzo.
Organic, a choice of quality
All our vineyards, from the Verdicchio to the Montepulciano, are farmed organically. For us, this was a technical decision rather than an ideological one. Organic farming requires balance in nature and a range of crops, trees and herbs that make up a biodiverse environment. The plants thrive on Umani Ronchi lands leaving space for a viticulture that gets the best out of the grapes we grow without compromising the quality of the wines. At Umani Ronchi, organic means quality.
Think sustainable
Umani Ronchi is driven by a strong sense of ethics and respects the environment lavishing attention on the territory and biodiversity. Our approach is highly practical when discussion turns to precision viticulture, machine management, vineyard treatments and organic fertilisers. Sustainability also underpins our choice of materials. Light glass bottles have a lower impact in terms of CO2 emissions and our synthetic cane sugar stoppers are 100% recyclable. Our energy is supplied by a photovoltaic array. Everything reflects a sustainable way of thinking and acting.
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Colline Teramane, Montipagano 2016
Montepulciano is one of the main Italian denominations, and most of all it shows a very high versatility. This version wishes to underline one of the main qualities of these grapes: the ability to obtain extremely pleasant wines, with an authentic personality. Its pleasantness derives from the fruit notes and the clean finish, the excellent balance among tannins, structure, and acidity; its authenticity, instead, appears through the great ability of these grapes to always show the best quality and recognizability even in the most difficult vintages.
Deep ruby red in the glass with a bouquet of cherries and a soft, smooth and mouthfilling body. A classic Italian Red which pairs with classic Italian fare! Try this red with roasted or grilled dishes.
Umani Ronchi Verdicchio Classico, Villa Bianchi 2016
This is a wine which takes its name from the farmhouse of the same name, nestling in the heart of the cultivation area of the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi which the Bianchi family used to make by vinifying the grapes from the surrounding vineyard. Today Villa Bianchi aims to express all the typical features of Verdicchio by bringing out in particular its aromatic notes of freshness and elegance. This is all achieved by careful selection of the grapes in the vineyard, and through the use of vinification techniques aimed at preserving intact the aromatic character inherent in the variety.
Brilliant straw yellow colour with greenish tints. The bouquet is fine and intense, fruity and floral. The palate is pleasant, vibrant and fresh notes, followed by a typically almond aftertaste.
