Didier Champalou Vouvray Sec 2016
Tasting note
Made from Chenin Blanc in a typically dry style with hints of pear and quince on the nose. Ripe and juicy on the palate with a strong chalky minerality, lots of fruits layers and balanced by a benchmark freshness.
Food Matching Note
The freshness and and delicate aromas of the wine make it a perfect partner with grilled fish and white meats, shell-fish, roasted vegetables and oriental food. When young, this is also a first-rate aperitif wine.
Domaine Didier Champalou
Catherine and Didier Champalou are two of the most dynamic growers in Vouvray who have gradually built up an impressive 19-hectare domaine, planted solely with Chenin Blanc. Their aim is to bring out the maximum expression of character from the grape while reflecting the different terroirs on which the vines are planted. Harvesting is manual and selective to give the optimum maturity and balance of fruit. The wines are vinified and bottled in a cave, with maturation in both tank and barrique depending on the vintages.
